Kristen Newton - President
My name is Kristen Newton, and I’ve proudly called Ambergris Caye home for the past 11 years. As a full-time island resident and the owner of Someplace South CafeBar for the last seven years, I understand firsthand what it means to live, work, and invest in the South Ambergris Caye community. I’ve been a long-time supporter of the South Ambergris Caye Neighborhood Watch and truly believe that strong communities are built when neighbors look out for one another. Over the years, I’ve been actively involved in fundraising efforts throughout San Pedro and enjoy bringing people together for positive, community-driven causes. My goal is simple: to help keep the south side safe, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone who lives here, works here, and visits our neighborhood. I’m running for President of the South Ambergris Caye Neighborhood Watch to strengthen communication, encourage community involvement, and help build a safer future—together.

Al Domescik - Vice-President

My wife Dawn and I moved full time to the south end of the island seven years ago from New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. We first came to the island in 2017 for a business trip and spent a few extra days as a mini vacation, during which we fell in love with the south side. We sold everything and moved here 18 months later. I am a former Engineering Director for a corporate television station owner (one big reason we left for Belize), and we are currently real estate business owners as well as local property owners. We have been regular contributors to the South Ambergris Caye Neighborhood Watch (SACNW) since moving to the neighborhood. Living south was never a question for us. It’s welcoming, it feels like home, and the neighborhood watch adds a real sense of comfort knowing someone is always looking out. I’d like to help keep that friendly, safe feeling going. I’ve previously served SACNW as Vice President for three years and as President for a year and a half. I’ve also served on other non-profit boards, including as President of the East Jefferson Parish Chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association in Metairie, Louisiana, USA, and as 2026 EC Nominations Vice President of the New Orleans Real Estate Investor’s Association in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. I care deeply about this community and would be honored to continue giving back and helping.

Mary Shaw - Treasurer
My name is Mary Shaw and I am the current Treasurer for the SACNW organization. My husband Pete and I visited San Pedro in 2014 and stayed on the north side. We came the next year, visited the south end and knew this was where we wanted to make our home. When my mom passed away in 2022, we moved to the south end of Ambergris Caye permanently. The south end has a different vibe – more of a community where neighbors are social, helpful and kind, and the SACNW patrolmen are a part of this community vibe. I have always financially supported the patrolmen but had no idea the many hats they wear until I joined the SACNW Executive Committee. My appreciation for what they do for the south end has grown, and I will always do what I can to support their efforts. I am running for the SACNW Treasurer position and my goal is to continue to be a good steward of every dollar this community donates to the financial support of our patrolmen, to provide transparency in order to instill confidence in this organization and its mission, and to support the efforts that keep our neighborhood clean and safe.

Emma Malloy - Secretary

My name is Emma, and I’m happy to re-run for the position of Secretary with SACNW. I joined the SACNW Executive Committee in October 2025 after learning the organization was in need of a secretary, and I was excited for the opportunity to give back to a group that provides such an important sense of safety for my family and our community. I moved to San Pedro in 2017 and later to the south end of the island in 2020, and I’ve loved becoming part of this community. I’ve been a teacher for over 10 years and currently serve as the Head Teacher at IncludeMe2 Preschool, where organization, communication, and strong tech skills are part of my everyday work. I am incredibly thankful for SACNW and the sense of safety it helps provide in our neighborhood. Because of this community, my daughter can safely play in our backyard, my husband is able to manage a resort in the south, and I can go for early morning walks feeling safe. I’ve truly enjoyed serving on the Executive Committee and working alongside such a dedicated team. I’m reliable, organized, and always happy to help, and I would love the opportunity to continue supporting SACNW and its members as Secretary.

Karen Larko - Member At-Large

My name is Karyn Larko and I am a current VP for SACNW. I have served in this position since the 2023 election. I am running for the “member at large” position on the EC for the 2026-2027 term. I am a California attorney employed full time by a firm that primarily represents nonprofit corporations – Epsten, APC. In my capacity as an attorney, it is not uncommon for me to provide legal counsel to more than a hundred different California nonprofit corporations in the course of a month. My mother, Mary, and I moved to South Ambergris Caye from San Diego, California in 2013 and have lived here fulltime since. Originally, we owned a condo at Miramar Villas (right next-door to the SACNW patrol station). However, we eventually built a house South of Hol ChanResort, and live there now with our many pets. SACNW was one of the primary reasons we decided to move to the South part of the island. We have been staunch SACNW supporters ever since. We firmly believe that SACNW is still as important to our area as it was when we first moved here. It is because we recognize the important role SACNW plays that I have volunteered my time to serve on the EC and am doing so again. My primary goals for the next term are to work with the other members of the EC to further strengthen SACNW and improve on its business practices and the services it provides to our community; and act as the liaison with SACNW’s legal counsel in furtherance of these objectives. To the extent my time permits, I will also assist in the efforts to re-establish the close-knit community that existed in South Ambergris Caye prior to COVID.

Kate Corrigan - Member At-Large Director
I have lived in Belize since May 2010 and have been a resident and property owner in South Ambergris Caye for over five years. I moved here with my daughter when she was nine years old, and she was educated locally, which gave me a strong personal connection to this community and a lasting commitment to its safety and wellbeing. Before working full-time in real estate, I owned and operated a restaurant in Belize and later spent four years in the international banking and investment industry. My professional background includes mortgage lending, investment portfolios, international corporate structures, and working within local regulatory and government systems. I am a local real estate professional and a proud member of the Association of Real Estate Brokers Belize (AREBB), the National Association of Realtors (NAR), and the Belize Tourism Industry Association (BTIA). I am also a Charter Member of the Rotary Club of Ambergris Caye. These roles have strengthened my experience in governance, compliance, finance, and community service. I am respectfully putting myself forward for re-election as an At-Large Director of the South
Ambergris Caye Neighborhood Watch (SACNW). Over the years, I have served as a Director of the nonprofit corporation and have taken responsibility for helping keep the organization’s corporate filings, banking, tax, and Social
Security registrations current and in good standing. I have also assisted with general projects and fundraising efforts whenever needed. As a long-term resident of Belize and a homeowner in South Ambergris Caye, I have a genuine
stake in the security and stability of our neighborhood. I strongly believe in SACNW’s mission to provide organized, community-based security and communication, and I am committed to supporting that mission through responsible governance and practical involvement. If re-elected, I will continue to:
● Support strong governance and regulatory compliance
● Contribute to fundraising and special projects
● Actively support SACNW’s efforts to keep South Ambergris Caye safe
● It would be an honour to continue serving SACNW and our community for another term
